I have been a member of the Anacortes community since 1987. My husband and I had the privilege of raising our three children in the public school system here.

All three were student-athletes while in high school, later attended college, and soon will all have graduate degrees. Much of their success can be attributed to the quality of education in our District. My girls attended colleges where their peers were predominantly from private prep schools, but they remained competitive academically nonetheless. I believe the quality of education and support from teachers and staff, the sciences and art programs offered, being a student-athlete, and the requirement for community service had much to do to prepare them for life beyond high school.
